[Monday, September 30, 2024] National Truth and Reconciliation Day is a time for us to consider the importance of coming together with Indigenous Peoples and recognizing the truths of our history together as a community. Not only of the horrors of the residential school system, but of the continued impact on Indigenous communities today.
Today we emphasize the significance of honesty and understanding, as factors in fostering relationships. Creating authentic reconciliation requires active listening and acknowledging that individuals directly impacted are most equipped to define their needs going forward.
We encourage our members and the wider community to engage in conversations that foster respect and harmony, with Indigenous Peoples. It is our responsibility to work towards reconciliation. Through cooperation and mutual understanding we can build relationships based on trust and inclusivity.

"BNFC will be closed Monday September 30th but our team will be down at the Spirit Catcher all day, to honour National Day of Truth & Reconciliation; the effects of residential schools and intergenerational trauma; those who did and did not return home; the continued interruptions in family and community living that have lead to many examples of disconnection, loss of identity, lack of connection; as well as the many brilliant tools of resilience that allow our communities to continue to heal and flourish.
All are welcome. Baa maa pii."
