Keynote Speaker: Michael Lee-Chin

Powering Innovation and Opportunity

Michael Lee-Chin will headline the event. He is Founder, President and Chairman of Portland Holdings, with investments spanning financial services, real estate, medical innovation, nuclear and clean energy. His participation reflects the calibre of attention the sector is now attracting from major capital and long-term investors.

Michael Lee-Chin is a self-made billionaire entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist, widely recognized as one of Canada’s most influential business leaders. Born in Jamaica, he came to Canada on a scholarship to study engineering at McMaster University and went on to build a global business platform through discipline, conviction and long-term ownership.

As Founder, President and Chairman of Portland Holdings, Michael leads a diversified investment platform with interests across financial services, insurance, real estate, tourism, agriculture, consumer goods and services, healthcare innovation, targeted radionuclide therapy, nuclear and clean energy.

His philosophy of “Doing Well by Doing Good” reflects his belief that business should create economic value while also improving the social well-being of the communities it serves. This approach has guided both his business success and his philanthropic contributions.

Michael has been profiled in Forbes, Fortune, Canadian Business, Black Enterprise and TIME magazines. He has received honorary Doctor of Laws degrees from several distinguished universities in Canada and Jamaica, served as Chancellor of Wilfrid Laurier University from 2011 to 2016, and has been recognized with the Order of Jamaica and the Order of Ontario for his contributions to business, philanthropy and community development.

In this fireside conversation, he will speak to leadership, long-term investment and the role Canada can play in a rapidly shifting global landscape. Drawing on his experience building and scaling businesses, the discussion will explore how strategic thinking, capital deployment and confidence in emerging sectors shape opportunity — setting the stage for the panels that follow and connecting investment decisions to real-world impact across both healthcare and energy.
